It’s been a little while since I’ve posted on my blog, mostly because life has gotten hectic, so I wanted to start off by sharing our fun family day cruising down the Wailua River, and since it’s been a while, I also wanted to share a little update on what has been going on in our lives lately.
Hanging out on the river has become one of our favorite things to do as a family. There is something so peaceful and calming about being on the river, especially at sunset. We usually get there around mid afternoon and try to stay for sunset. It’s so much fun just driving the boat down the river and there are a few great spots that we can dock the boat and get out and play in the water, plus I love that we can bring Binks with us!
We conveniently live a couple minutes away from the river, so it’s an easy trip to make (we just have to make sure we can borrow Cijay’s dads boat). This was our first time taking Binks and Mia on the boat together and they both did great! We packed up some food and made a day of it. We drove up and down the river a few times before we docked the boat anywhere because Mia thinks it’s so fun to go fast. The first spot we docked was right at a popular spot where you can jump off of a small cliff in to the water. I have done this jump in the past, so I didn’t think twice about it, and I climbed right up to make my jump, but for some reason when I got to the top it was a big NO for me! lol! It doesn’t look that high, but when I was up there I just couldn’t do it, I guess it just wasn’t my day for conquering fears. Cijay however, is always fearless and did it with ease and grace (you can see the photos below). I also have a hilarious video of me climbing up and freaking out, maybe I will post that later haha. We all jumped out and swam around in the water for a little bit, Binks was definitely the cutest swimming around in circles! We got back in the boat and moved on to another spot at the beginning of the river where there is a small beach. I think this was everyone’s favorite part of the day, because we got to run around, play in the sand, and eat our lunch. We got back on the boat and just slowly cruised down the river waiting for sunset. This is always my favorite part, because it’s the most relaxing and peaceful part of the day! It really is the perfect way to end a perfect day!
Just a little modeling sesh with the happiest dog on a boat you ever did see!
This is Cijay jumping off the cliff that I was too chicken to do myself (even though I’ve done it before in the past). Look at that strong pose! haha
We pulled the boat up to the little beach right off the river so that Mia and Binks could get out and run around and they had a BLAST!
We stayed almost the whole day, all the way till sunset, which is our favorite time of day on the river. It’s so peaceful and calming at that time of day!
Now to catch you upon our lives lately…If you haven’t seen on my social media lately, a couple weeks ago our dog Sadie passed away and this has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to deal with. She was only 7 years old and it happened very suddenly when she got sick out of no where. I think that was one reason that made it so hard for us because it caught us so off guard when she had so many years left in her to live. I literally held her in my arms and sang to her as she passed away and that will be one of the hardest moments of my life to remember and look back on. Sadie was Cijay and I’s first dog together, she was our baby. She really was everything to me, I loved her more than I can even put in to words. She wasn’t just a dog to us, she was a part of our family, one of our kids. She slept in our bed cuddle up to me every night, we did everything we could to make sure our dogs knew they were still just as special to us once Mia was born. I will miss her every single day and I hope she’s watching over us and loving her new life across the rainbow bridge.
As far as me, I have recently transitioned in to teaching Barre classes and dance full time! I am teaching my barre classes at Studio Barre & Soul, which is located in Kapaa and Lihue, and I am teaching Lyrical, Jazz, and Ballet at Aloha Dance Studio in Lihue! It was such a scary choice to make, because I was taking the risk of not making enough money as well as taking on a lot of hard work that I might not be able to keep up with. It has definitely been a challenge for me, but I love challenging myself. There are some weeks where I teach up to 16 classes a week and that’s on top of all the time it takes to make and plan these classes. That is A LOT of info stored in to my brain every week along with my body being exhausted, BUT…I LOVE IT!!! Along with this blog that I have, I have also started a Youtube channel where I am sharing my barre workouts along with some dance workouts that will be coming soon! If you want to visit my Youtube channel, click here!!
Mia is now almost two in a half years old and I swear she’s already acting like a teenager haha! I love this age so much though. Even though she test my patience and strength as a mom everyday, I love the innocence of this age. I love that she wants her boo boos kissed and that she actually wants me to cuddle and hold her. I know this phase won’t last long, so even through the tough moments, I’m really trying to enjoy every second I can! I took Mia with me to one of my dance classes a few weeks ago and I was super nervous how she would act because the girls were a little bit older than her and I was afraid that she would misbehave while I was teaching, but she did SO good! She loved following along with the older girls and actually had a good time! I can’t wait to see if she enjoys more classes.
There is not much to report on Cijay, he’s pretty boring, ha. He is still working hard with his dad in their construction company and still driving me crazy leaving dirty clothes all over the house lol! I do have to give him big props though, because 90% of the time, he is the man behind the camera for all of the photos I post and I know he doesn’t enjoy it, but that’s why he’s a good man!
I’m going to try to be better about posting and sharing more on my blog. I originally started this blog because I wanted it to be a place to not only share my life in Kauai with all of you, but to also document all of our memories to look back on later. If there is ever anything that any of you want to see more of or anything that I haven’t posted about that you are interested in seeing, leave a comment below and let me know!!
